Here is a short summary of what transpired at the meeting that took place on August at the Culinary Center of Hudson Community College.

What a tremendous turnout -- 63 participants, representing each of the six wards in Jersey City. The group included backyard and window box gardeners, college students passionate about food security, Jersey City municipal employees, Permaculture professionals, members of community organizations - and the list goes on and on including urban agricultural colleagues from around the NYC metro region. We congregated at the Hudson County Culinary Conference Center, curious and hopeful about what we could create together.

We all answered the CALL TO ACTION and gathered, along with our neighbors and fellow residents to DISCOVER, DREAM & DESIGN an urban agricultural action plan for Jersey City. We brought our collective resources to the table, shared our ideas and personal experiences and discussed the ways to make our dreams a reality.

Since FITC , the JC Green Team has received wonderful and inspired feedback from the attendees, which has been very encouraging. As we work towards finalizing this GOOD magazine competitive submission due next week it would be very helpful (ASAP!), to understand exactly what impact FITC had on its participants.

Please take the time out to join the MeetUp group at the link below and feel free to use it to convene your own neighborhood meetings.

Thanks again for taking part in this inaugural event!
Sincerely,
The Jersey City Green Team
